Positive reinforcement can be used to encourage respectful behaviour and discourage aggression. For example, children can be rewarded for following the teacher’s instructions willingly and straight away, while another good behaviour might be clearing up after themselves without being asked or walking briskly rather than running down the corridors. These simple behaviours, when rewarded, can encourage a more thoughtful and respectful attitude in other areas

Create confidence, respect and discipline

HISTORY OF JU JUTSU
Ju-Jitsu was the battlefield art of the Samurai of Japan. These samurai warriors were armoured and usually on horseback and the art of Ju-Jitsu was developed to allow the samurai to fight effectively in the event that they found themselves disarmed and on foot.
Because of the restricted mobility and agility associated with fighting in armour, ju-jitsu evolved to include throwing, joint-locks and strangles, in addition to striking moves found in other martial arts.
The think well stay safe program itself focuses on a way of thinking that allows the student from prep to year 12 and adults to deal with bullying and physical confrontation. It will give the student options to utilise, rather than physical violence to resolve issues. This will be achieved by workshops that focus on communication, assertiveness, self-awareness and confidence.
There are also elements that focus on situations that go beyond conversation and negotiation and require self-defence. For these scenarios simple techniques will be shown, to allow them to create space between them and their attacker, so that they can find help without violence.
However, this is not the primary focus of the program. Educating children in communication, both good and bad, the difference between assertive and aggressive behaviours and how to tell what that is, is crucial to how they may respond to conflict. Also, understanding their own emotional quotient will greatly improve the way they make decisions. Increasing EQ will allow clarity of thought
I have also been involved in martial arts for the past 20 years, both practicing and instructing. I have also been working with children from prep to year 12 for the past 6 years, and am eager to help kids make that one right choice that could change everything for them
